Announcement text atau teks pengumuman adalah sebuah pernyataan tertulis berupa public declaration yang bersifat publik atau ditunjukkan untuk para khalayak umum.

Biasanya, announcement berisi informasi yang berupa suatu acara, peristiwa, imbauan, atau lain sebagainya. Misal, kalau di sekolah tak jarang akan menemukan berbagai informasi penting biasanya ditempel pada majalah dinding (mading) atau papan pengumuman kelas. Tujuan dari announcement adalah untuk memberikan suatu informasi secara resmi sehingga khalayak yang membaca pengumuman dapat menerima informasi sesuai dengan fakta yang ada.

Jangan sampai pemahaman mengenai announcement text tertukar dengan jenis teks lainnya. Untuk itu perlu diketahui ciri-ciri dari announcement text, sebagai berikut:

1. Memuat informasi yang singkat, padat, dan jelas.
2. Dapat menjawab pertanyaan what, when, where, dan how.
3. Umumnya dilengkapi dengan call to action atau seruan pada pembaca untuk melakukan sesuatu.

Seperti jenis teks lainnya, announcement mempunyai struktur yang sangat penting, yaitu judul (title) dan penjelasan (explanation). Bagian judul berfungsi sebagai gambaran tentang isi teks. Sedangkan bagian penjelasan berisi informasi detail seperti tanggal dan waktu, tempat, atau kontak yang bisa dihubungi.

Adapun kaidah kebahasaan yang digunakan untuk announcement text adalah simple present tense, simple future tense, imperative sentence, dan declarative sentence.
