10. The Lion and The Mouse.

One day, a lion was sleeping in his den. A mouse came and started to play on him. The lion woke up and caught the mouse. He was about to kill the mouse, when the mouse said, “Please spare me, Your Majesty. I am a small creature. I did not mean to disturb you. If you let me go, I will be grateful to you. Maybe someday I can help you in return.” The lion laughed and said, “How can a tiny mouse help a mighty lion? But I am feeling generous today. I will let you go. Run away and don’t bother me again.” The mouse thanked the lion and ran away.

A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. He roared and struggled, but he could not free himself. The mouse heard the lion’s roar and came to see what was happening. He saw the lion trapped in the net. He said, “Don’t worry, Your Majesty. I will help you.” He quickly gnawed at the ropes of the net and cut them. The lion was freed from the net. He said, “Thank you, my little friend. You have saved my life. You were right. Even a small mouse can help a big lion.” The mouse said, “You are welcome, Your Majesty. You spared my life, and I repaid your kindness.” The lion and the mouse became friends.

The moral message of this story is: No one is too small or too weak to help others. Kindness is never wasted.

11. The Tortoise and The Hare.

One day, a hare was boasting about his speed. He said, “I am the fastest animal in the forest. No one can beat me in a race.” A tortoise heard him and said, “I don’t think you are so fast. I can challenge you to a race.” The hare laughed and said, “You? A slow and clumsy tortoise? You are no match for me. But if you want to race, I will accept your challenge.” They agreed to race from one end of the forest to the other.

The race began. The hare ran as fast as he could, leaving the tortoise far behind. He looked back and saw the tortoise crawling slowly and steadily. He thought, “I have plenty of time to reach the finish line. I can take a nap and still win the race.” He found a shady tree and lay down under it. He soon fell asleep.

The tortoise did not stop or rest. He kept moving forward with determination and patience. He passed by the sleeping hare and reached the finish line first. He won the race.

The hare woke up and realized his mistake. He ran as fast as he could to catch up with the tortoise, but it was too late. The tortoise had already won the race. The hare felt ashamed and said, “I have learned my lesson. I should not have been so arrogant and overconfident.” The tortoise said, “Slow and steady wins the race.”

The moral message of this story is: Hard work and perseverance are more important than talent and speed.

12. The Crow and The Pitcher.

One hot summer day, a crow was very thirsty and flew around looking for water. He could not find any water in the ponds or rivers. He was about to give up, when he saw a pitcher on a farmer’s porch. He flew to the pitcher and looked inside. There was some water in the pitcher, but it was very low.

The crow tried to reach the water with his beak, but he could not. He tried to tilt the pitcher, but it was too heavy. He thought of a clever idea. He saw some pebbles nearby and picked them up with his beak. He dropped them one by one into the pitcher. As he did so, the water level rose higher and higher. Finally, the water was high enough for him to drink. He quenched his thirst and flew away happily.

The moral message of this story is: Necessity is the mother of invention. Where there is a will, there is a way.
