Brilio.net/en - Hunger. Horror. Heartbreak. Sadly to say, these are the words that define Syria at this very moment. As sad as it may seem, the people in Syria are going through a crisis that is unlike any other. Its citizens are desperately fleeing out of the country, taking sophisticated routes in search of a new home somewhere far away. Unfortunately, the greatest violence is being inflicted upon the nations innocent children. Imagine a childhood right at the center of a gruesome and bloody civil war. Many end up as victims; the luckier ones keep watching on.
Diala Brisly is a woman who has been the seed of hope for the guiltless children of Syria. She created several paintings that are now being surreptitiously printed and distributed. Her mission is to remind children about the value of life as human beings so that they arent brainwashed to become bloody war fighters in the future. Below is some of her touching work.
1. Dreamcatcher
The Dreamcatcher urges children to reach out for their dreams, no matter what it takes. This painting is the cover image of Zayton and Zaytonah Magazine.
2. Child labour
The boy who sells cotton candy is a painting that depicts a boy who can earn himself a living despite the terrifying situation. It may not be a permanent solution, but it is important that he stays happy in doing so.
3. Be my leg - I will be your arm
Many are facing depression due to the loss of loved ones. This painting symbolizes love and support for all.
4. It's a baby girl
As people ride the boats across the sea, it may just be the end for them. But if you look at it from a different perspective, its the birth of a new life.
5. Leave Us
In 2012, a deadly massacre left this kid with one arm and one leg. The balloon symbolizes a bright childhood despite all the violence.
6. Refugee
These refugees on a hot air balloon imply that no matter what it takes, fleeing out a warzone should always be a priority.
7. Inside me
Diala Brisly painted this personalized image in Istanbul, Turkey when she had already fled from Syria. It showcases her feelings and emotions towards the situation in Syria, and ironically, her new life away from her former home.
