For about two decades, a group of artists in Port-au-Prince, Haiti have been creating art out of junk.

Brilio.net/en - One mans trash is another mans treasure. And these boys in Haiti embody this statement to the full. They are known as the Atis Rezistans, or the Artists of the Resistance. Incredibly, these groups of guys from Port-au-Prince, Haiti are internationally recognized for making sculptures out of used car parts, old toys, recycled wood and human skulls! Founded by Andre Eugene, they want this social movement to give opportunities for artists as to improve overall living conditions, for many of the nations people are still stranded in slums. These renowned artists also aim to connect with the spiritual world of Voodoo as a means to cope with the nations economic and political instability. In Haiti, Vodou is a popular religion, and its practitioners are known as servants of the spirit.
