As quoted from Oddity Central (16/12), Venus the Chimera cat becomes the queen of the internet because of its bizarre appearance. Some people assume that its unusual appearance is a fake, but the owners claimed that Venus was born this way.
"Im 100 per cent natural. No makeup at all. Not even eyeliner. In the salon where I get my pedicures done Photoshop and spray paint arent even allowed, wrote the owners (pretending to be Venus) on the Venuss website.
Aside from having an unusual appearance, Venus also has a different color of eyes: one of green, the other blue.
Is Venus really a chimera?
Professor Virginia Paapioannou, a Columbia University Professor of Genetic and Development, explained that the striking visage of Venus is the example of a calico cat.
Its a fairly straightforward example of X-inactivation mosaicism, with the addition of a white spotting gene, she said.
Because of its striking appearance, her Facebook page entitled Venus the Two Face Cat gains over 930,000 likes. She even has huge followers on the Instagram.
The owners usually use the account to spread motivations about loving yourself and to help cats in other shelters.
