Brilio.net/en - With so many caffeine-addicts walking around on this planet, coffee cups made of Styrofoam remains one of the biggest trash problem.

But fear not, your latest coffee indulgence will not create another problem for the Mother Nature with this genius invention.

Reduce. Reuse. Grow is a start-up company based in California that is recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to create the worlds first plantable coffee cup

This coffee cup, although looks like your regular paper cup, is lined with a material called PLA, which is a plant-based compostable plastic which allows plastic to break down in higher temperature and allows it to actually decompose.

Its not only biodegradable, but has seeds in its walls so that it can be planted and grown! What was once a rubbish coffee cup can create another life and help reforestation.

To plant it is super easy, after using the cup, you just have to unravel theup and soak it in water for 5 minutes. Next, simply plant the soaked cup into the soil and watch it grow.

Traditional coffee cups takes 5-50 years to break down, while cups lined with PLA only takes 90-180 days to decompose.

On the motivation, Alex Henige, CEO of Reduce. Reuse. Grow said, This project is looking at reducing waste but also looking at the bigger picture of connecting people back to the landscape that they originally living. He highlighted how over-consumption resulted in the destruction of our natural landscape, and hoping that those could be resurrected through this coffee cups.

The project is currently in its Kickstarter phase. Reduce. Reuse. Grow hopes to raise enough money to manifest this idea. The cups will be made based on location with seeds tailored to specific conditions of each area to ensure that the seeds will grow & flourish.
