Brilio.net/en - Putting aside oil paint, Untung Yuli Prastyawan (34) prefers another artistic method to make his own paintings. The man from Magelang applies the combustion painting technique by using a mosquito coil!

The man familiarly known as Wawan Geni is indeed famous for his admiration towards fire. This is why Im called as Wawan Geni, because geni means fire in Javanese language, said Hendy to brilio.net, Monday (20/10).

Before using mosquito coils, Wawan once applied incense, burnt coconut sticks, and firewood. In 2003, Henry discovered the most appropriate formulation is by utilizing mosquito coils and cigarettes. The mosquito repellant which has a pointy end, is suitablefor painting in detail while the cigarette is for spreading fire in creating patterns.

Wawan revealed that he uses only a small fraction of cigarettes and the rest he applies the mosquito coil. In a month, he could spend 15 to 20 packs of repellents.

Thanks to his unique technique, Wawans painting now is coveted by many foreign tourists. He was also awarded by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) in 2006 for his unusual painting technique.

Feel free to be amazed, here are a few awesome paintings by Wawan:
