Five Indonesian Merchant Marine Academy (STIP) students ere wnamed suspects on Wednesday following the death of their junior Amirulloh Adityas Putra, 18.

Four of them Willy Hasiholan, Iswanto, Akbar Ramadhan, and Sisko Mataheru were involved in the beating of Amirulloh, causing him to suffer internal bleeding before passing away on Tuesday. The other suspect, Jakario, was also involved in the activity but was busy beating another student named Ahmad Fajar when Amirulloh. There are also other four students who were beaten in the same occassion whose names are undisclosed.

All of the suspects are second-year students in the school, but have just been expelled due to this case.

Five of them are now being detained for questioning. However, police said that their current mental condition has interfered with the process. North Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Comr. Awal Chairuddin said on Wednesday that police have yet togather enough information due to the suspects mental condition.

"We are still trying to match [suspect testimony] since they are still feeling down," Awal said during the press conference in North Jakarta Resort Police, Koja, North Jakarta.

"They [the suspects] said they never intended to beat their junior to death," added Awal.

According to the information gathered so far, the incident happened during a marching band rehearsal. As a tradition, seniors are to pass down their instruments to the juniors but the ceremony has always involved beating.

The suspects bare-handedly beat the their juniors, directing their fist to bowel, chest, and heart. Amirulloh collapsed after being hit by Willy.

The investigation is still ongoing. Police has gathered several evidence such as oil bottles, a shower bucket, a glass, and two cigarette butts.

Aside from the expelling and detaining of thesuspects, the school headmaster, Capt. Weku F. Karuntu, has also been dismissed by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi.
