Brilio.net/en - A 10 minute theater performance at the KH. Abd. Kahar Muzakir auditorium of Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Thursday evening (20/8) successfully grabbed the audiences attentions. Two performers dressed in demon costumes and a veiled little girl played their roles on stage.

The story follows a demon who was tasked to make life of a little girl miserable by an elder demon. Following a religious undertone, the play goes on to display numerous attempts by the demon to tempt the little girl. However each attempt is met with futility plainly because the little girl prays every time before she carries out an activity.

The play was part of the International Islamic School Robot Olympiad (IISRO) 2015 for robot theater category, one of the most anticipated categories of all. The audiences wanted to look closer at how a robot could play a role in a theater performance. Yudi Triwibowo (34) the chairman of IISRO committees explained that at least one robot must play a role in a drama performed by school groups for the robot theater category.

There were 9 junior groups and 10 seniors groups who participated in this category, he said to brilio.net Thursday (20/8). Aside from the demon robot, there was also a robot set dressed like a ghost. The performers voice has been recorded previously, including the voice of the robot which was voiced by humans. Robots performed on the stage were controlled using a remote control from outside the stage.

Its not often you get to see robots grace their presence on a theater stage. It was obvious that people in the audience were eagerly awaiting the appearance of the robots from each play.
