Brilio.net/en - Kelly Waite, ex-miss United Kingdom, confessed that she has bizarre habits caused by OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), a mental health condition in which the sufferers have obsessive thoughts and carry out repetitive acts to ease their anxiety.
As reported by The Sun (4/1), Kelly has such a fear of germs which makes her has obsessive cleaning routines. She also revealed that at least, she spends 30 hours a week getting rid of her room and bleaches the toilet SIX times a day.
Weirdly, she also requires vacuuming her body every day as she moves from room to room to suck away the dust and dirt from her clothes.
If I am walking into a room I havent vacuumed then I dont want to take any dirt in there. I am constantly vacuuming and polishing. I scrub the sink three or four times a day, she said to The Sun.
This 35 year-old-woman has been diagnosed OCD a decade ago. Because of her bizarre condition, Kelly does not want to cook and eat anything from her kitchen. Instead, she buys her food from restaurants and takeaways. Every time she goes out, anti-bacterial gels, cleaning wipes and packets of tissues are things that she never forgets to bring.
Kelly said that she had any therapy, but there is no known cure for the phobia. Until then, she even finds difficulties in getting a job.
Having crowned as Miss United Kingdom, Kelly was expected to be the ambassador for the Dream Foundation of Uganda, which aids children suffered from HIV and Aids. Nevertheless, Kelly confessed that she wasnt able to visit to the Third World country with a lot of germs because of her OCD.
Ive been asked to go there three times since taking the role and have had to turn it down.
Though her phobia has been impacted on her career and diets, Kelly said that it does not affect her love life.
My ex-boyfriends were totally understanding. It never bothered them a bit.
