Starting from there, a group of agroecotechnology students of Brawijaya University create a variant of ice cream that is safe for diabetics, namely ice cream tiwul. They are Gusminanda Oktavia, Wahyu Setianingsih, Nanda Ulfa Riski, Nur Afiana and Luthfinda Windi.

A unique ice cream for diabetics

We initially wanted to lift traditional food that is no longer booming which is Tiwul, said Nanda to brilio.net/en, Saturday (8/8). The benefits of our product are low in fat and sugar, so diabetics can still eat well, that is our goal.

Tiwul was then processed in such a way and mixed in ice cream dough with variety of flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and mung bean. The diabetics also need not worry, this ice cream is low in sugar since Nanda and her friends have replaced dairy product with soy milk for dough. In addition, they also replace sugar with honey. So, it is totally safe for diabetics.

This tiwul ice cream is already on sale starting from April in Malang, Batu and its surrounding areas. A cup of tiwul ice cream would only be charged IDR 5,000. Thank God, it has a good response from buyers, they said they could really taste the tiwul and it is very delicious, said Nanda.
