Brilio.net/en - Just a few days ago, India celebrated Holi, known as the festival of colors. Its a lively annual tradition where people come together and unite by splashing colorful powders, throwing water balloons and spraying water guns at each other. This time around, however, it wasnt just about this dynamic party that grabbed the headlines in India. It was about the widows who celebrated it for the very first time in Indias holy city of Vrindavan.

You may be contemplating as to why these widows have never celebrated Holi before. Well, it goes back to the Hindu folklore, which disapproves of widows taking part in religious ceremonies as their participation is deemed inauspicious. After years of being ostracized, over a thousand of them broke free from their shelters and had the time of their lives at the Gopinath Temple!
