Brilio.net/en - A mother pushed her toddler son on a swing for two days until he died. She is eventually spared imprisonment.

The tot was found suffered from severe dehydration and hypothermia before he died, after being on the swing for 48 hours.

The mother, Romechia Simms, was charged with manslaughter and child abuse following the horrific discovery in May last year.

According to Daily News, following a plea dealon Monday(22/2), the 25-year-old woman wouldnt be jailed or spend time in a mental institution. Simms, who was homeless and suffered mental health problems, granted a lesser accusation which meant she was not criminally responsible for her son's death.

Police were called to Wills Memorial Park onMay 22, according to the Charles County Sheriffs Office.

They found Simms pushing the lifeless child. Then she was taken to a hospital where she spent four days being evaluated.

There were no clear signs of trauma on the boys body when he was found, but last week, a Baltimore medical examiner decided his death was a homicide.

Authorities said Simms and her son first came to the park about11:15 amonMay 20; a full two days before they were discovered.

He was alive when she placed him in the swing, Diane Richardson from the sheriffs office said.

AtMonday'shearing, a psychologist ruled that Simms was schizophrenic, but not dangerous, as reported by WUSA9.

Simms will have to continue taking her medication, have regular examinations by a examined a psychiatrist and meet any other terms set by a court monitor as part of her five-year conditional release, WTOP reported.

Im happy with the outcome, this was the right thing to do, Simms attorney, Elizabeth Connell said.

Simms shed tears as she attended little JiAires funeral at the start of the month. His small body, dressed in white, was laid out in a white casket surrounded white roses.

Simms was among those singing 'This Little Light of Mine' at the service.

The boy's father, James Donnell Lee, is said to have filed for sole custody of JiAire just weeks before he died.
