Brilio.net/en - If youre seeking some breathtaking sights, be it white sands, pristine waters, wonderful wildlife or even a volcanos summit, Nusa Tenggara is the region you should definitely be seeking out. This province encompasses quite a number of tourist hotspots such as Lombok, Flores, Gili Island and the Komodo Islands.
While people have been flocking to these destinations, festivals have been designed to boost tourism in the East Nusa Tenggara region. The government recently created five tourism festivals along with the Department of Culture and Tourism. They are:
1. Pasola Festival
Between the months of February and March, the Pasola Festival will be showcased. During this event, horse riders battle with each other, so be prepared to see some blood splashing away.
2. Semana Santa
On March 25, 2016, the Semana Santa ritual will take place to commemorate the end of Portugese colonization in Indonesia. Be a part of unique rituals and check out some of the ornaments and equipments used during the course of various processions.
3. Tour de Flores
Held during the week of May 16-23, 2016, Tour de Flores is a cycling tour that begins in Larantuka and ends in Labuan Bajo. The competition will see participants from as many as 24 countries!
4. Cultural Festival
The East Nusa Tenggara Cultural Festival will be conducted during the months of September and October. Immerse yourself in their unique culture and while youre at it, enjoy their traditional dance performances that blend in with a majestic modern touch.
5. Tour de Timor
Similar to Tour de Flores is Tour de Timor. During this tour, which will be held in the month of October, participants will cycle and explore the mind-blowing nature of East Nusa Tenggara. Do take your time, its not a race!
