Brilio.net/en - The 29th Tokyo International Film Festival is set to take placeon October 25 to November 3, with 11 Indonesian films scheduled to be screened in the Crosscut Asia #03: Colorful Indonesia program.

Put together by theJapan Foundation Asia Center and Toronto International Film Festivalsince 2014, the section highlights various Asian fims by presenting various Asian films and this year will focus on featuring the works of Indonesian filmmakers.

These films includeAbout A Woman, Something In The Way, Lovely Man, Three Sassy Sisters, Cado Cado: Doctor 101, Mother (Emma), Filosofi Kopi, Following Diana (Diana Sendiri Diana), Someones Wife In The Boat of Someones Husband, After the Curfew (Lewat Djam Malam), andFiction.A number of cinemas in Tokyo will also be screeningthe selected films.

According to Tsukamoto Norihisa, director of Japan Foundation Jakarta, Indonesian films have continued to show great improvementsin the eyes of the international film industry and the 11 films reflect cultural diversity, some even provocative, showing outstanding and creative talents.

"Many Indonesian films have premiered overseas. That's because, Indonesian films are gaining prominence," said Tsukamoto in Jakarta.

Norihisa says theevent will introduce more Indonesian filmmakers' works to Japanese cinematographers and could be a medium for cultural exchange efforts between the two countries.

"This will introduce the reality of Indonesia and will be a big opportunity for Japanese filmmaker to get to know Indonesian films. Moreover, this event will be a bridge for Indonesian and Japanese culture," he explained.
