Brilio.net/en - Love updating your status on social media? What happened to this Twitter employee might be a good reminder for you to do so more cautiously.

Gregory Gopman, a VR program manager at Twitter was fired only two days after he joined the company. But why?

It all started when a status written by Gopman three years ago resurfaced, in which he talked offensively about San Francisco's homeless."Why the heart of our city has to be overrun by crazy, homeless, drug dealers, dropouts, and trash I have no clue," the controversial status read.In downtown SF the degenerates gather like hyenas, spit, urinate, taunt you, sell drugs, get rowdy, they act like they own the center of the city.

Gopman has since deleted the update and apologized through his Facebook account.

The incident was unfortunate, as Gopman himself is actively involved in charities and founded a pro-homeless organization named A Better San Francisco last year, which urgest the government to be more involved in helping its homeless. On the day he received news of his employment status, Gopman was attending a charity program held by Downtown Street team (DST).

Gopman joined Twitter on October 18 and started working as VR program manager on October 28. In October 18, 2016, he joined Twitter and started working as VR Program Manager on October 28. TechCrunch then covered his story, bringing back the controversial status which actually existed three years ago.

As cited from Business Insider, Gopman admitted that he didnt have any idea what the people at the social media company knew about him when they hired him. I assumed they ran a Google search on me," he said.
