While the world had witnessed her greatness from so many movies she won awards for, the younger generations would recognize her as Professor Minerva McGonagall. Dame Margaret Natalie Maggie Smith, CH, DBE is one of the Britishs dearest celebrities and here are whys she deserves it:
Daniel Radcliffe owed her his career in Harry Potter series. They had worked together on David Copperfield and Smith had recommend Radcliffe to the Harry Potter director and her eyes were not wrong. Radcliffe even considers Smith as his fairy grandmother.
She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1990 and Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour in 2014.
She is one of only six actresses in the world who have won the Academy Award in both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories.
She has won the Triple Crown of Acting, which means that she has an Oscar from Academy Award (the American awarding in film industry), a Tony Award (the Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre awarding for live Broadway theatre performances) and an Emmy Award (the awarding for television industry)which won only by twelve other actresses.
Getting older
She successfully battled cancer during the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie production simply because she didnt want to disappoint fans.
She has been conferred with honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Bath, University of St. Andrews and University of Cambridge.
She was one of the first to have a star and had her handprint on the Avenue of Stars, which is the British version for Hollywoods Walk of Fame.
The recently passed Alan Rickman worshipped her when he was growing up, watching her acts from the seats at National Theater.
